Activity: Bloodborne Pathogens Misconceptions

In this activity, students discuss common misconceptions about bloodborne pathogens and health care workers.


Phase 2: Learn & Practice

Unit 1: HIV, AIDS, and Hepatitis

In this unit, students will learn about: HIV and Hepatitis, including transmission, effects on the human body, testing and treatment.

Unit 2: Standard Precautions

In this unit, students will learn about: the variety of infection control precautions, including personal protective equipment.

Unit 3: Bloodborne Pathogens Standard

In this unit, students will learn about: the requirements of the Bloodborne Pathogens Standard and create an exposure control plan.

Phase 3: Reflect

Activity: Reflection Questions and Discussion

In this activity, students will journal about the chain of infection and identify various precautions that health care works can take to prevent exposure to bloodborne pathogens. A class discussion can follow.


Phase 4: Reinforce

Activity: Bloodborne Health Brochure

In this activity, students will research a bloodborne virus, syndrome, or community resource, and create a brochure about the virus, syndrome, or community resource.

Activity: Current Event

Students will review articles for information related to a topic in the module. Once an article is found, students complete a Current Event form.
