Phase 1: Explore

Activity: Career Choices

In this activity, students will identify possible career choices considering their interests and career goals and necessary qualifications for those careers. A class discussion can follow.


Phase 2: Learn & Practice

Unit 1: Career Exploration and Research

In this unit, students will learn about: basic definitions and why career planning is important. Students perform a self-assessment, explore and research occupations, and select an occupation.

Unit 2: Career Goals and Barriers

In this unit, students will learn about: defining goals and overcoming barriers related to their ideal career. They will explore related career clusters and pathways and alternate career options.

Phase 3: Reflect

Activity: Reflection Questions and Discussion

In this activity, students will journal about new information they have learned about their career choices and develop short- and long-term goals toward that career.


Phase 4: Reinforce

Project: Effects of Information Technology on the Job Market

In this project, students research how developments in Information Technology affect the supply and demand characteristics of the job market. They create a presentation of their findings with a closer look at jobs in business and finance that require expertise in IT.

 

Unit: Current Event

Students will review articles for information related to a topic in the module. Once an article is found, students complete a Current Event form.
