Medical Office Equipment

This module provides an overview of equipment found in the typical medical office. Students learn to operate, troubleshoot, and care for equipment; basic computer functions; and the basics of office inventory.

Unit: Office Equipment Guessing Game


Description
In this activity, students will learn about: several pieces of office equipment through a guessing game. The teacher is encouraged to demonstrate the proper use and care of office equipment found in the the classroom or close by.

Description
In this unit, students will learn about: computer operations, basic computer functions, devices, hardware, software, and file management. They will research types of software found in medical facilities and discuss security related to confidential medical records.

Description
In this unit, students will learn about: office supplies management, including inventory, ordering supplies and preparing and paying a purchase order.

Unit: Reflection Questions


Description
In this activity, students will journal about medical office equipment, including the importance of maintenance, computer literacy and managing inventory and supplies. A class discussion can follow.

 

Unit: Inventory and Purchasing Activity


Description
In this activity, students will examine the inventory report of office supplies for a family practice. Students will decide what is needed, compare product prices in a catalog, and fill out a purchase order.

 

Unit: Current Event


Description
Students will review articles for information related to a topic in the module. Once an article is found, students complete a Current Event form.
