This module provides an overview of medical record activities, including preparation, maintenance, handling, and storage. Students also examine record control policies and procedures and purging and long-term storage of files.

Description

Description
In this unit, students will learn about: filing medical records alphabetically and numerically, including indexing and alphabetizing names; straight numeric, terminal digit, and middle digit numeric filing; and creating cross-references.

Description

Description
In this activity students will journal about how to keep medical records complete and accurate, describe situations where EMR might not be the best option, and debate alpha vs numerical filing. A class discussion can follow.

Description
In this activity students will assemble a folder and a record, label the folder, and then appropriately file the folder alphabetically and numerically.

 

Unit: Current Event


Description
Students will review articles for information related to a topic in the module. Once an article is found, students complete a Current Event form.
