State-Approved Industry Recognized Credential
Industry-recognized credentials (IRCs) are a required performance measure of the Missouri Perkins V State Plan for the federal Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act.
An IRC is defined as a portable, recognized credential that validates an individual has successfully demonstrated skill competencies in a core set of content and performance standards in a specific set of work-related tasks, single occupational area, or a cluster of related occupational areas.
Missouri-recognized IRCs are sought by employers within an industry or sector as a recognized, desired, or preferred credential for recruitment, screening, hiring, retention, or advancement purposes.
